Issue date 26th February 2004. The Lord of the Rings stamps commemorate the
50th anniversary of the publication of the first two parts of J R R Tolkien's
three part book, The Lord of the Rings. The Fellowship of the Ring and The Two
Towers were both published for the first time in 1954. The se-tenant block of 10
First Class stamps all relate to places and characters featured in the Lord of
the Rings. The drawings have been sourced from the Bodleian Library, Oxford and
are rarely reproduced.
